Alex Pereira Reclaims UFC Light Heavyweight Crown with Explosive TKO Win Over Ankalaev

Las Vegas, October 5, 2025 — Brazil’s Alex Pereira reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight title in spectacular fashion, defeating Magomed Ankalaev by technical knockout in the opening round of their main event clash at UFC 320.

Pereira needed just one minute and twenty seconds to finish the fight. He dropped Ankalaev with a perfectly timed right hook and followed up with a barrage of punches and elbows until the referee stepped in to stop the bout.

The defeat marked Ankalaev’s first knockout loss in the UFC after a 14-fight unbeaten run. Going into the contest, betting odds heavily favored the Russian contender, with nearly 89 percent of wagers backing him to win.

With this victory, Pereira becomes a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in mixed martial arts.

In the co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili successfully defended his bantamweight title, earning a unanimous decision victory over Cory Sandhagen after five competitive rounds.
